Indigenous Families Climb for FREE

In recognition of the survivors and impacts of Canada's living history of colonialism, residential schools, and racism, on National Truth and Reconciliation Day this Thursday, September 30th we invite people that identify as Indigenous, Aboriginal, or Métis to bring their families to OVERhang for one of two free climbing sessions
(10am-noon or 12:15pm-2:15pm).

Please note:

  • Max 24 people in the climbing spaces, including parents helping kids and people taking photos... so reserve your spots in advance!
  • All people aged 12 and up must show their BC vaccination card.
  • Masks are mandatory for ages 12 and up, effectively covering the mouth and nose.
  • Climbing has risks: waivers  required for entry.  Anyone under 19 must have their waiver completed by their own parent or legal guardian.  Can be completed online in advance at
At OVERhang, we recognize that we need to be active partners in reconciliation and not just one day per year. We welcome tough conversations and are open to suggestions.
We will also be launching a small lending library for our members, so they can borrow books by Indigenous Canadian authors; books of fiction, books for children and adults, books about reconciliation, and our collective past, present, and future. Got any books to add or suggest? Bring them on down!
