Emergency Medical Responder

The Emergency Medical Responder training equips you with the skills to assess, intervene, and provide continuous care to patients while at work, responding to calls, or during transport to a healthcare facility.

Duration: 120 hours (15 days)

Time: 8:30 - 4:30  

Cost: $1875.00 +GST

Prerequisites: Participant must be certified in Standard First Aid with CPR level C.

Completion:

  • Successfully demonstrate the required skills
  • Minimum 75% mark for written, closed book, knowledge evaluation
  • Successfully complete two evaluated scenarios (one medical and one trauma)
  • Attend and participate in 100% of the course

Certification

  • 3-year certification in Emergency Medical Responder (digital certificate issued upon successful completion)
  • 1-year Basic Life Support (BLS) and CPR

  • Crisis intervention
  • Reaching, lifting and extricating patients

  • Multiple-casualty incidents
  • Pharmacology
  • Marine environment
  • Workplace

Courses will run Monday through Friday for 3 weeks unless otherwise noted. 

 

EMR Bridging Option


Already certified as a First Responder or Advanced First Aid?
Participants who hold a current First Responder (FR) or Advanced First Aid (AFA) certification may be eligible for the EMR Bridging Program. This condensed training pathway allows eligible individuals to upgrade to Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) certification in a shorter timeframe.

Time: 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM
Cost: $1250.00 + GST

Eligibility Requirements
To register for the bridging program, participants must:

Hold a valid (non-expired) First Responder (FR) or Advanced First Aid (AFA) certification from a recognized provider
Hold current Standard First Aid with CPR Level C certification
No additional approval is required if your certifications are current, you may register directly for the bridging program.

 
Completion Requirements

  • Attend and participate in all scheduled sessions
  • Successfully demonstrate all required EMR practical skills
  • Score a minimum of 75% on the written EMR exam (closed book)
  • Complete two evaluated scenarios (one medical, one trauma)
